About the Series

Overtures: S&R Foundation Artist Concert Series features award-winning, world-class performing artists at legendary venues across the D.C. metro area, such as The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the S&R Foundation’s headquarters, Evermay Estate.

Overtures attendees enjoy intimate music performances by talented rising stars throughout the year. The S&R Foundation hosts the Spring Concert Series, the Summer Concert Series, and the Holiday Concert Series. Past concerts have featured a variety of performers from around the world, such as Soprano Maki Mori from Japan, D.C.-native Cellist Char Prescott, and Pianist Ryo Yanagitani from Canada.

The first Overtures Concert Series took place at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival Centennial Celebration in spring 2012.

Overtures is sponsored by the S&R Foundation, which supports talented individuals with great potential and high aspirations in the arts, sciences, and social entrepreneurship, especially those who are furthering international cultural collaboration.
